Got a ride to Stillhorn really quick after having a long distance ride from Trento with my new danish friends. Its good for going northwards on the A1/A7.

After waiting 4,5h in Peschiera, I was brought here. This service area is quite big and very good to go northwards. I asked truck drivers and others at the gas station, but went to the service shop after 5min. I met two Danes who were traveling from Milano to Kolding, so I got a long distance ride for over 1000km in 14h to Hamburg.

The only spot that worked for us in this area
Driver also took us for 7 hours, bought us food for 38 euros and dropped us off in a new hitchhiking route.
Hope you get a German, they are pleasant

We were 3 people with a lot of baggage, but here just going up to the people made us get a ride quickly. We got with some German students who also let us spend the night.

The ride was 2 hours

I came here by public train and bus, and walked 1.5 km, but here is not good, 09:00am , very few cars going to highway direction, very few .. waited until an albanian man dropped me maybe 10km further

Asked people if they go south and Olaf took me to Würzburg. 4/5 because it's a little less traffic

Service station just before the gates of Hamburg, but a bit a dead spot. Waited quite long there and only got ride offers for Hamburg City. Hard to get a ride somewhere north of HH.

Stood there for about 40 hours to direction Hannover. Not many cars, mainly trucks.

Hard to ride north of HH. Very few traffic. Maybe its better to find somebody who goes beyond Hamburg on the stop before?

Many going to Hamburg early in the morning, but found car after 1 hour at 8 in the morning. Also a fine place to put up a tent in the night.

and it is possible to get there and get away with a bus if necessary, or you can easily get there by foot.

Not the best and not the worst place to get out of Hamburg. I went twice direction Hanover from here. Both times a truck drivers took me. Holding a sign or thumbing is not the way you will get a quick ride. Asking for a ride will do the job. This rest stop is easily reachable from metro-station "Harburg". Bus 443, 143 and 148 stop at "Sinstorfer Kirchweg". The rest stop is just half a click away.

Waited for about an hour around 3pm and got a ride to Munich

For my opinion it's the better place to leave HH towards south following A7. Better than Stillhorn, where most cars move to Bremen. You can get there by bus 143

depends on daytime. harder to get away from there in the evening or an night. when being there in the morning before noon, there's more cars than parking lots.
